pTools powered websites win top awards for County Councils in Ireland & Wales
pTools, one of Ireland's leading developers of enterprise level content management software, has today announced that two of its clients, Kilkenny County Council and Carmarthenshire County Council in Wales, have collected separate awards recently for the quality of their online services, powered by pTools content management software.
Both councils use pTools' content management software for their respective online initiatives to ensure usability and accessibility compliance. Kilkenny County Council picked up an O2 Ability Award for the second year running in recognition of the accessibility of the Council's website, www.kilkennycoco.ie. Carmarthenshire Council (www.carmarthenshire.gov.uk) won the prestigious UK based SPiN (Society of Public Information Networks) award for best council site in Wales. This award is based upon the findings of the SOCITM surveys that examined more than 554 UK public sector websites analysing criteria such as useful content, usability, usage supporting analyses and 'future-proofing'.
Tom Skinner, Managing Director of pTools says: "These awards are great for both council development teams and for us. Kilkenny and Carmarthenshire have made a big commitment to online services and to using pTools. As well as providing the core content management functions, pTools ensures usability and accessibility compliance and that's an important part of council business. I am especially proud of the various Kilkenny Council sites. They represent something of a benchmark as set down by the deployment team at Kilkenny, lead by Mark O'Toole, Information Systems (IS) Project Leader.
The O2 Ability Awards are the Irish business awards for best practice in the employment and inclusion of people with disabilities. These Awards examine all aspects of employment, including access to online systems, and recognise progressive attitudes in those organisations that see disability and diversity as a corporate asset and key to success. SPiN represents and promotes the interests of public information providers in the UK and the award to Carmarthenshire County Council was made by SOCITM, the UK Society of Information Technology Management.
pTools customers represent major business sectors including central government and financial services, such as Irish Stock Exchange, Department of the Taoiseach, Health Service Executive, and Price Waterhouse Coopers. The company delivers powerful end-to-end content management functionality with specialist features including accessibility compliance, advanced workflow, multi language capability, SharePoint integration and most recently eForms.
