Recap on pTools Annual Risk & Identity Conference 2020

We held our first ever virtual conference on the 22nd of October 2020. Here's a quick recap of the day!

It’s been several weeks since we wrapped up the pTools Virtual Conference on Identity and Risk but there’s still a lot that can be learned from a quick “glance in the rear-view mirror” - especially as you prepare for 2021 and commit to your strategic vision for the year.

If you attended the live conference you already know what an amazing and insightful event it was. For those of you who were not able to join, you can still benefit from the content through our session recordings - just go to ptools.com/2020, fill out the form and gain instant, free access to all the resources!

The conference recordings are broken out by region and session, reflecting the overall structure of the event. We started with speakers and guests in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, followed by a European focus and wrapping up with several sessions focused on the N. American market. To get a quick taste of the whole event I’d suggest you actually start at the end and watch Jeff Braswell’s elegant summary of the topics covered throughout the day. Without stealing Jeff’s thunder, here’s a quick snapshot:

  • Emerging Technology and Emerging Risk - COVID-19 and Macroeconomic Trends
  • Digitization of Exchange Processes - How Technology is Driving Efficiency and Transformation
  • The Role of Banks in the LEI Process - How ISIN, LEI and Announcements Maintain and Guarantee Transparency
  •  Blockchain Backbone - How Will Distributed Ledger Technology Transform Market Data and Services
  • Identity and Green Finance - Why Identity and Transparency is Essential for Environmental, Social and Governance Transformation
  • Future State - Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing and Automated Regulation

This event was much more than just the topics and slide decks however - it’s worth highlighting a few speakers to give a sense for the global reach and caliber of the content. Presenters included the aforementioned Jeff Braswell, founder of Tahoe Blue and former board member of GLEIF; Clare Rowley, Head of Business Operations, GLEIF; Tiaan Bazuin, Chief Executive Officer, Namibian Stock Exchange; Kevin Bourne, former Head of Database Services for the London Stock Exchange Group; Mike Byrne, former Commissioner of Ireland’s Electronic Communications Regulatory Authority (ComReg); Aron Chazen, founder of TreasuryCurve; Paul Janssens, Program Director, SWIFT; Hideki Tomita, Japan Stock Exchange Group; and  Elena Ulianova, National Settlement Depository, Russia.

Check out the full speaker bio list, and feel free to reach out to any of them on LinkedIn - or send us a message and we’ll relay it on your behalf. This is a tight-knit community with a shared vision that is transforming the financial services world.
